Wesfarmers Insurance has contracted leading carbon forest sink developer Carbon Conscious Ltd to offset the company’s 2010 corporate emissions.
The deal involves Carbon Conscious planting 26,000 Mallee eucalypt trees on marginal Western Australian farm land to assist with rural environmental issues of salinity and soil erosion. In addition, Carbon Conscious has retired Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) units from beneficial regional renewable energy projects on behalf of Wesfarmers Insurance.
Perenia Pty Ltd has contracted market leading carbon forest sink developer Carbon Conscious Ltd to supply 10,000 future internationally exportable Australian Government backed Assigned Amount Units (AAU’s), in an Australian first.
The deal involves Carbon Conscious planting approximately 50,000-70,000 mallee eucalypt trees on marginal Western Australian farm land and delivering AAU’s to Perenia, in line with tree growth, under the Australian Governments Carbon Farming Initiative. more info.
Captain Cook Cruises
Captain Cook Cruises have recently purchased forestry carbon credits to contribute to the offsetting of their brochure production and printing costs for 2010/11. The initial investment will see the planting of 1000 trees. In addition their clients will be given the opportunity to ‘lighten the carbon footprint’ of their cruise by contributing to their tree planting program.
Lux Events
The Lux Events Carbon Conscious Program, or Lux Forest, commenced recently when they planted trees to offset their fleet of company vehicles. The program also enables their customers the opportunity to contribute to the forest by simply choosing their tree planting option at time of booking.
