Ten million trees are going to be planted in marginal cropping country, as part of a $2.5 million deal between BP and Carbon Conscious. Peter Balsarini, CEO, Carbon Conscious says Carbon Conscious will give farmers a commercial consideration for the land, either the value of the land, or a share of the carbon credits generated by the land. He says the deal with BP will not fall through subject to whether the CPRS legislation passes.

Compere says another 10m Malley Trees could be sprouting in the wheat belt thanks to a $2.5m carbon credit deal. Oil CO. BP and Carbon Conscious Ltd, a carbon sequester company, will be seeking 10,000 hectares of low production land to plant trees on to act as a carbon sink for the emissions of the oil company's activities. Peter Balsarini, CEO, Carbon Conscious Ltd says that WA has the most developed carbon rights legislation in the country. WA farmers have a better sense of the opportunities this presents which provides us with a good base to talk to them. We would give them a commercial consideration for the land.

BP has signed a deal with Carbon Conscious to plant 10 million Mallee Trees in the wheatbelt to help reduce their carbon footprint. This is a deal that with all the uncertainty of the Federal Governments ETS plans has been well received. The trees will be planted across Australia to help the environment reduce carbon levels while improving the land where the trees are planted. A wonderful initiative to improve our planet.
